I am a long serving teacher of maths and have a particular passion for working in schools, often those in the inner city, where under achievement is more pronounced.
I enjoy working as a part of a team committed to improving the life chances of students by helping them achieve the best maths grades that each one of them is capable of.
I believe that this can most effectively be achieved through high quality aspirational teaching. High quality teaching is characterized by a classroom humming with active engagement and a sense of purpose.
In addition, a focus on a growth mindset and ensuring parents and carers share in each success of the student are equally as important.
I am keenly interested in politics and feel that our current national educational policy could be doing so much more to support all learners attain the highest grades they can.
I love to share and discuss my practise and am more than happy to offer advice or be a sounding board for any issues you may have.
I am also interested in any views you may have about my blog.
